The Community Resilience Partnership's Resilience Finance Coordinators at the New England Environmental Finance Center and Gulf of Maine Research Institute are hosting two virtual opportunities in September to explore funding and financing strategies for community resilience projects: their monthly Climate Finance Office Hours on September 10, and a webinar on Municipal Reserve Budgeting on September 15. Both sessions are free to the public.
On September 10, noon–1:30 p.m., their Climate Finance Office Hours will provide attendees with an opportunity to connect with climate finance experts to help move resilience and sustainability projects forward. These monthly virtual sessions and quarterly in-person gatherings give participants the change to ask questions, explore funding opportunities, and learn practical strategies for securing support for local climate initiatives. On September 15, noon–1:30 p.m., their Municipal Reserve Budgeting webinar will discuss the practice of using reserve funds to save for climate and natural hazard resilience. The webinar will discuss how proactive saving can help your community respond to emergencies, fund resilience projects, and move quickly when grant opportunities require local match. The presentation will also cover sinking funds — reserves for planned but variable expenses (like snow removal) — and how they can be invested to keep pace with or beat inflation.
