Maine EMS Connectivity Project Meeting Oct 15
In the fall of 2023, Maine EMS launched the Maine EMS Connectivity Project, securing grant funding to equip licensed EMS vehicles statewide with mobile high-speed internet, scene Wi-Fi, digital responder warning systems, and CAD integration capabilities. Under the original five-year Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), Maine EMS funded the initial three years of hardware deployment and active subscriptions.
As we approach the end of Year 3, the project is entering its planned financial transition, where the ongoing operating costs shift to the participating agencies for the remaining two years.
Because many services have undergone leadership and administrative changes since 2023, incoming chiefs and directors may not have full visibility into the technology currently deployed in their vehicles, what services are active, or how the upcoming billing and renewals work.
To provide total clarity, Maine EMS has scheduled an informational session with Jim Carman from NEWCOM, the primary statewide contractor for the initiative.
